BHS Celebrates First-Ever Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly

Brighton High School’s Latino Student Union (LSU) hosted the school’s first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly on Oct. 7. The event featured a dance performance from Alma de Mexico. The group’s goal is to preserve the soul of Mexico in Rochester. The guest speaker was Ibero-American Action League President and CEO Angelica Perez-Delgado. Ibero, a dual-language, multi-service agency, uplifts, empowers, and advocates for Latinos and the underserved, so they can build successful futures. Perez-Delgado shared the history of the Latino community in Rochester and the ways Ibero serves the community. She encouraged students to drive positive change in their community. Thank you to our guests and LSU for organizing the event.
