FRES Students Learn About Government
French Road Elementary School fifth graders recently learned about government from community legal professionals. United States Magistrate Judge Colleen Holland and Deputy County Attorney Brendon Fleming, both parents of fifth graders, joined New York Court of Claims Judge John Bringewatt in visiting Lanni Maszerowski’s classroom as part of a social studies unit on the U.S. government. Students have been learning about the three branches of government, checks and balances, and how the Constitution shapes our democracy. The guests talked about their professional roles and explained how the judicial branch functions in real life.
